INDORE: Madhya Pradesh minister for tourism and culture Usha Thakur carried out a puja before a statue of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in the airport premises seeking her blessings to "get rid of Covid-19" pandemic in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on Friday night.

Airport director Aryama Sanyal claimed that it was the minister’s decision to seek blessings of the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar to control the pandemic situation arising in the Indore district.
She said that the people of Indore and nearby regions seek blessings of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in any crisis situation, and the same was followed by the minister while maintaining proper distancing and without crowding.

“Minister Usha Thakur Ji wanted to pray before the deity to seek blessings to get rid of the pandemic situation. So we made arrangements for the prayer while ensuring compliance of all Covid-19 safety norms,” Sanyal said, adding that intention was good, and people must respect it.
Thakur has been in news for not wearing face masks in public, and she claims that she doesn’t need one, because she performs prayers and hawans on a daily basis.
